Michael Paul Nester, 46, of Martinsville, Virginia, took his final rest on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. He was born September 25, 1979, in Martinsville, Virginia to Kenneth Paul Nester and the late Martha Turner Nester.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Granville A. Nester and Rava M. Nester; and maternal grandparents, George N. Turner and Rosie R. Turner.

Michael was a simple man at heart who found joy in the little things—casting a line in the water, spending time outdoors, and relaxing with the people he loved most. He had a way of making any moment feel easy and any day feel lighter.

He was a hardworking and dedicated painter, known for the pride he took in his work on homes and businesses. He believed in doing things the right way, working hard, and showing up for others. More than anything, he was someone you could count on—steady, loyal, and always ready to have your back.

He loved his family fiercely. Whether it was through quiet support, shared time together, or one of his perfectly timed little jokes, he made sure the people around him felt cared for. His laugh was one of a kind—once he started, it brought laughter to everyone around him, and that joy will echo in the hearts of those who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory are his father, Kenneth Paul Nester; mother, Theresa Nester; sisters, Chassity Powell (Scott), Brittany Stewart; brother, Kenneth Wayne Nester; Grandparents, James E. Nester, and Patricia A. Nester; special aunt, Alice N. Eure; two nieces; one nephew; as well as numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Friends Church, 5 Summit St, Martinsville, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s memory may be made at Old Fashion Gospel Church, 2864 Kings Mill Road, Ridgeway, Virginia 24148.
