Michael Stephen Carter, 57, of Axton, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. He was born on November 17, 1968, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Henry Stephen Carter and Gladys Marie Craig Carter.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Stephen Carter.

Michael attended Laurel Park High School and later furthered his education at ECPI University and Virginia State University. He was of the Christian faith. Michael enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He loved spending time with his mother, playing the lottery, and especially enjoyed caring for and watching his mother’s birds.

He is survived by his mother, Gladys Marie Craig Carter of Axton, Virginia; his sister, Whitnie Chaney; and other loving family members and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 12:00 Noon at the Carter Family Cemetery, 100 JP Carter Lane, Axton, Virginia.
