Obituaries

Patricia Sue Edwards Paitsel, 77, of Collinsville, Virginia, transitioned into the loving arms of her heavenly father Tuesday, December 2, 2025. She was born May 9,1948, in Pocahontas, West Virginia to the late Arthur Clifton Edwards and Nannie Lee Tolbert Edwards.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, her sisters, Eva “Mae” Gilley, Dorothy Maslyk, Ella Frances Edwards, and Annie Ruth Edwards; brothers, Virgil Edwards, Maynard Edwards, Wyatt Edwards and Clarence Edwards; and son-in-law, David Wayne Mabe.

Patricia was a faithful member of Faith Fellowship Church in Wirtz, Virginia, and it was clear to anyone who knew her how much she loved the Lord and cared deeply for her church family. Throughout her life, was willing to serve anywhere she was needed in Kingdom work whether teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, or even cleaning the church. She was steady in her faith, spent time with the Lord, and stood strong in what she believed.

She attended Fieldale High School and later earned an associate’s degree in early childhood education from Patrick Henry Community College. Patricia volunteered in her daughter’s classroom for over fifteen years, working with these children until they truly felt like her own. She loved children, and she poured so much of herself into them. She had the warmest and most welcoming hugs, making others feel loved and cared for. In her free time, she loved reading, working in her flowers, and she held a gift of creativity; especially when it came to painting and bringing colors to life.

Patricia was a loving wife, an amazing mother, and she adored her grandbabies with everything in her. She had a great sense of humor and loved to banter; especially with her son-in-law, David. She carried herself with grace and kindness, always proper but still able to slip in a little humor that caught you off guard in the best way. She was full of laughter, encouragement, love, and touched so many people with her gentle heart and joyful spirit.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband of fifty-three years, Alfred Lewis Paitsel, Jr.; daughter, Angela Gail Paitsel-Mabe; son, Kevin Lewis Paitsel (Jennifer); brothers, Earnest Edwards, Steve Edwards, and Ray Edwards; grandchildren, Patricia “Trisha” Mabe, Christian Mabe, Kaden Paitsel, Conner Mabe, and Zachary Paitsel.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 5:00 PM at Faith Fellowship Church, 100 Wirtz Road, Wirtz, Virginia, with Pastor Gary Hoffman officiating.
