Obituaries

Phyllis Anne Garrett Sites, 83, of Callands, Virginia, passed away March 30, 2026, at her home. She was born December 7, 1942, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Joseph and Roslyn Garrett.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a special sister-in-law, Judy Garrett.

Phyllis worked in banking at Piedmont Trust Bank for 19 ½ years and in retail at Walmart for 23 years before retiring. In retirement, she spent time playing cards with church friends and participating in activities with her Single Sisters Group. She enjoyed reading and driving country roads to explore the sites; but her biggest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her son, Tommy Sites (Robin) of Callands, Virginia; daughter, Carmala Shively (Andrew) of Martinsville, Virginia; brother, Carroll Garrett; three grandsons, Christopher Sites (Breanna), Hunter Sites (Kiara), Caden Shively; four great-grandchildren; two nieces, Angela Fleming, Amy Garrett; two cousins, Wright Garrett, Harry Lee Garrett; one special friend, Patti Garrett.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 4:00 PM at County Line Christian Church with Minister Dean Ashby and Minister Daryl Joyce officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service.

The family will receive friends at the home of her son, located at 498 North Maple Road, Callands, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Senior OWLS Group at County Line Christian Church, 12711 Chatham Road, Axton, Virginia 24054.
