Obituaries

Rae Lynne Finch Bogle, 67, of Critz, VA passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. She was born on August 29, 1958, in Iowa to the late Janet Ruth Peyton and Dale C. Peyton. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Steven Anderson, Scott Peyton, Dale Peyton and Sue Arnell.

Lynne served in the United States Air Force for 20 years and retired while working under the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. During her military career, she traveled extensively around the world. Before visiting each country or state, she took the time to research its culture and customs to ensure she was always respectful and informed. Some of the places she visited included Thailand, South Korea, Dubai, and Egypt.

After moving to Patrick County, Lynne became deeply involved in local politics and community service. She dedicated five years to the Patrick County Republican Committee, serving as Chairman of the Patrick County Committee also as Vice Chair of the 9th Republican District, and the Republican State Central Committee.

In addition to her public service, Lynne worked as a firearm instructor for 10 years and authored four books on firearms. She also pursued photography, often traveling with her husband to his shooting competitions to capture photographs of the events.

Lynne’s experiences also extended into film, where she appeared in two movies — one featuring Clint Eastwood and another starring Denzel Washington.

She is survived by her husband, James W. Bogle; daughter, Becca Davis; and her niece, Tammy Baker (Michael) and her family.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Norris Funeral Services, Stuart Chapel with Pastor Andy Nickelston officiating. Inurnment will be held at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
