Obituaries

Rebecca Williams Stone passed away January 25, 2026. She was born on January 21, 1940, in Pulaski County, Virginia, to the late Robert Raymond Williams and Mary Farmer Williams. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Stone, Sr.

Becky worked at Martinex Fabrics and Tultex for many years. She developed great friendships and later worked at Stone and Company and at Solid Stone Fabrics. She loved work and was still employed at the time of her passing at 86 years old. She insisted on working a forty-hour work week for the past twenty years.

She loved the time that she spent with her dear friends in the “Card Group” over the years. This weekly gathering was an event that she always loved to be a part of, and while very social in nature, the girls were and are extremely competitive.

An outstanding cook for sure – her pound cake, pimento cheese, cornbread, and tomato pies were by far among the best in the region.

At the beach or in the sun was her favorite place to be.

Rebecca is survived by her two sons, David Lee Stone, Jr. (Tamara) and Robert Stone (Amy); sisters, Sarah Deckar and Mary Martha Haislip (Jerry); grandchildren, William (Kasey), Carson (Tara), Ana (Alex), George and Abby; and great-grandchildren, Lance, Levi, Oliver, Everett, Hazel, and Ellie.
