Obituaries

Ronald Edward Burke, 81, of Danville, Virginia, transitioned from this earthly life Thursday, January 8, 2026. He was born in Danville, Virginia, on November 11, 1944, to the late B.D. Burke and Emily Edwards Burke.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Jeanette Ricketts and Jeanelle Boaze; and brothers, Cecil Burke and Roger Burke.

Ronald was of the Christian faith and part of the Baptist denomination. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a man of varied interests who enjoyed bass fishing and classic cars. Ronald was known for his big heart and for caring for those around him. With intelligence and unmatched wit, he eagerly gave advice, sometimes even when it was not asked for. He took pride in providing for and loving his family and his legacy will always be remembered.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Wood Burke; daughter, Debra Taylor Hedman (Jason); son, “Scott” Burke (Jennifer); grandchildren, Eddie Neal, Amanda Taylor, Evan Taylor, Victoria Edwards (Travis), Elizabeth Hedman, Joe Burke (Blayre), Baylee Burke, Ryan Bowman (Jordan), Tanner Bowman; and great-grandchildren, Paislee, Grayson, Emery, Beau, and Archer.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the love and support that has been shown during their time of grief. Although services will be private, the family will receive visitors at the home on Friday, January 9, 2026, and Saturday, January 10, 2026, between 2:00 and 8:00 PM.
