Obituary For Ronald Lee "Jimmy" Carson
Mr. Ronald Lee “Jimmy” Carson, 74 of Ararat, NC, passed away at his home on Monday January 19, 2026. He was born June 10, 1951, in Surry County to the late Romney Lee Carson and Mabel Frances George Carson. Jimmy loved his animals and considered them family members. He was an avid Duke basketball fan, New York Yankees fan, and loved to watch NASCAR. Mr. Carson loved to go to the beach and visit the mountains. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol Ann Flinchum Shinault Carson of the home; stepchildren, Karen and Tim Creed, Carla Shinault, and Vance Franklin Shinault, Jr.; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four sisters, Betty Hutson, Annette Carson, Rita and Wayne Willard, Kay and Ronnie Chamblin; many nieces and nephews; and several other family and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carson was preceded in death by a brother, Donald “Don” Carson. A service of worship and celebration will be held at a later date at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Ararat, NC. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
