Mrs. Ruby Jean Martin Butler departed this life on May 9, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on October 7, 1936, in Martinsville, Ruby was the beloved daughter of the late Willie Grant and Annie Reynolds Grant.

Ruby was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her. She was united in marriage to her devoted husband, Clarence Butler Sr., and together they built a life centered around faith, family, and love.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving husband, Clarence Butler Sr. of the home; one son, Clarence P. Butler Jr.; one daughter, Janice A.(Michael) Muse; six grandsons, Avion Butler, Ayden Butler, Alexander Butler, Julious Page, Brandon Page, and Allan Muse; two granddaughters, Jessica Butler, and Clarice Butler; and two sisters, Jacquelyn Myers and Hildred Moorman all of Martinsville, VA; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.

Ruby was a faithful member of Gospel Light United Holy Church, where she served as an active Mother of the church. Her faith guided her life, and she was known for her caring heart, warm smile, and unwavering love for her family and community.

She attended Carver High School and dedicated much of her life to caring for her home and family as a devoted homemaker. Ruby found joy in spending time with those she loved and creating lasting memories with her children and grandchildren.

A visitation service will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 12 noon with the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. at C.R.V. Memorial Chapel with Elder James Leath, officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 124 Seller St. Martinsville, VA.
