Obituaries

Ruth Wade Hall Moore, 94, of Spencer, Virginia, transitioned from this earthly life Tuesday, December 23, 2025. She was the first baby girl born to the late Willie Martin Hall and Carrie Padgett Hall on April 2, 1931, in Welch, West Virginia.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, David J. Moore; her son Bobby Ray Moore; and brothers, Dick Hall, Clarance Hall, Bob Hall, Howard Hall, and Jack Hall.

Ruth was of the Christian faith and a member of Friendly Christian Church in Martinsville. She graduated from Spencer Penn School and from Allan’s Beauty School, where she received her license in cosmetology. She found fulfillment in her career as owner and operator of Ruth’s Beauty Shop for more than four decades. She loved to travel, and after retirement spent much of her time in Florida and Myrtle Beach. Ruth was well-loved by everyone she met and with a caring personality, she made sure that others had what they needed. Her legacy of love and kindness will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her.

Left to honor and cherish her memory are her sons, Henry “Skip” David Moore (Laura Yates), John William "Billy" Moore (Kay); sister, Gaye Wingfield; grandchildren, Timothy Wayne Moore (Michelle), Daniel Lee Moore (Michelle), Jonathan Moore (M.C. Dippenaar), Kristi Grier (Bob), Dane Moore (Sarah), Allison Murphy (Joel); great-grandchildren, Landen Moore, Cassie Moore, Nick Grier, Caroline Grier, Harper Pridgen, Miles Pridgen, Birdie Murphy; and great-great-granddaughter, Ella Moore.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Martinsville Chapel. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
