Obituaries

Sharon Sue Smith, 74, went home to her Heavenly Father on January 29, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Martinsville, Virginia on January 21, 1952. Sharon was preceded in death by her mother, Valerie A. Marshall, her father, Donald G Marshall, and sisters Donna G. Alvey, and Gloria G. Marshall.

Sharon is survived by her son, Correy Smith and his wife Kelly, of Waynesboro, Virginia, and her son, Chris Smith and his wife Natalie, of Hernando, Mississippi, her granddaughters, Julia and Grace, and her grandson, Jake. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry L. Marshall, of Horsepasture, and her sisters, Judy Eppling, of Horsepasture, and Debbie Clark, of Marietta, Georgia, as well as many family members and friends who grieve the loss of their “Sherman”.

Sharon graduated from Drewry Mason High School in 1969 and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. She was a loving and caring mother and always sacrificed so that she could give to those that she loved. Sharon loved to be a caretaker for others and cherished this role while taking care of her mother. Sharon was a devoted Christian who lived her life for Christ. She will be missed by all that knew her, but they are comforted by the knowledge that she is at home with her Lord.

Sharon did not wish to have a funeral or a service. The family will welcome visitors at her home at 100 Fairsky Drive, Ridgeway on Sunday, February 8 between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. The Smith family wishes to express their profound gratitude for all of the love; prayers and many good deeds sent their way in their time of grief.
