Obituaries

Valerie Michelle Hill, 60, of Martinsville, Virginia, transitioned on Sunday, May 3, 2026. She was born on April 26, 1966, in Spencer, Virginia, to the late Roy King and Arnetia Biggie Martin.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Richard Martin and Magadelene Martin; and her brother, Kenneth Martin.

Valerie graduated from G.W. Carver High School. She attended First Baptist Church – East Martinsville, where she loved her church dearly. She was the owner and operator of The Blessing Store for four years. Valerie enjoyed helping people, listening to music, and, most of all, loving and spending time with her family.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 25 years, Clifton Hill; daughter, Blair Martin; son, Joshua Hill; sister, Tanika Martin; grandchildren, Honesty Martin, Noah Martin, Jaden Martin, and Novia Blackley; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Oak Hill Cathedral of Glory, with Bishop Randy Martin officiating and Elder Clifton Hill serving as eulogist. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service and at other times at the home of Clifton Hill, 16 Clearfield Road, Martinsville, Virginia 24112.
