Obituary For Virginia Burch Arendall
Virginia Burch Arendall, 92, of Bassett, VA died on May 11, 2026 at Stanleytown Health Center after a long and full life. She was born on May 22, 1933 in Fieldale, VA to the late Doss Henderson Burch and Maude Whitlock Burch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her dear husband of 61 years Cabell Yancey Arendall, brother Doss H. Burch, Jr., brother Russell G. Burch, sister Elizabeth Burch Boblett and sister Juanita Burch Arnoult.
Virginia grew up in Fieldale, VA and graduated from Fieldale High School. She attended Perry Business School and received an Associates Degree in General Business. In her early years, she worked for Bassett Furniture Industries in the main office. Virginia later worked as a Library Assistant for Henry County Public Schools for 13 years after her children entered middle school. She was a member of Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church and enjoyed helping and volunteering with all of her children’s activities. She had a gift for gardening/flower arranging and was a founding member of the Town and Country Garden Club in Bassett. She also enjoyed playing bridge with some very special friends in the Bassett community. However, her real passion was found in raising her family while also spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and Yancey enjoyed traveling and were always ready to take a trip to see them, enjoying their extracurricular activities and vacationing with them at various locations. She also enjoyed spending time with her siblings and extended family. Family was her number one priority and she had an art for making family events very special.
Virginia is survived by children Mike Arendall (Wendy) of Ridgeway, VA; Ann Arendall Pry of Warner Robins, GA; Lisa Arendall Langston (Rhett) of Clyde, NC; granddaughter Emily Arendall Stanford of Collinsville, VA; grandson Alex Pry of Warner Robins, GA; Jaxson Langston of Cary, NC; and great-grandsons Riley and Finn Standford of Collinsville, VA. She is also survived by sisters Nancy Burch of Richmond, VA, Dixie Burch Childress (Bob) of Charlottesville, VA, Jeannie Burch Frady (Len) of Bluffton, SC and many special nieces and nephews.
The family of Virginia would like to express their eternal gratitude for a very special friend and wonderful caregiver of 4 years Tammy Smith Reynolds. Tammy treated Virginia like one of her own and became a special friend to Virginia and the entire family.
The family will receive friends at a visitation on Saturday, May 30th from 11am - Noon at Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church. A brief celebration of life will follow visitation and the interment will be private with Pastor Susan Spangenberg officiating at Roselawn Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church at P.O. Box 507, Bassett, VA 24055.
