Virginia Murphy Wright, 95, of Axton, Virginia, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2026. She was born October 6, 1930, in Bassett, Virginia to the late Henry Murphy and Mary Slaughter Murphy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than sixty years, Grady Wright; sister, Bernice Helms; brother, Bobby Murphy; granddaughter, Teresa Hubbard; and one great grandson, Jean Claude Bridges.

Virginia was a member of Willis Memorial Baptist Church. She worked for Bassett Walker for thirty years until they closed and was later employed with Martinsville Health & Rehab. She enjoyed cooking, working in the yard, and tending to her flower garden. She also loved to travel and visited thirty-eight states across the country.

She is survived by her daughters, Jean Scott, and Judy Kellam; son, Jerry Wayne Wright; brother, Douglas Murphy (Ruth); seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and fifteen great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Martinsville Chapel.
