William O’Brien Dyer, Sr., 77, of Henry, Virginia, passed away Monday, May 4, 2026. He was born on March 1, 1949, to Russell O’Brien Dyer and Freda Louise Thacker Dyer, both who are deceased.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Russell Dyer, Terry Dyer, and John Dyer.

William was a hard worker who took pride in his job as an auto mechanic. With a sense of humor, he enjoyed talking to anyone who would listen and genuinely liked being with people. His favorite pastimes included attending car shows and being outdoors where he liked to watch birds and squirrels. He had a deep love for his family and especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren. His absence has left a void in the hearts of his friends and family that can only be filled with the precious memories he made with them.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Dyer; daughter, Jennifer Lynn Fetter; sons, William O’Brien Dyer, Jr. (Melissa Ann), Robert Gordon Dyer (Amber); seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Henry Fork Community Church with Pastor Greg Poff officiating.
