William Thomas Young, Sr., 94, of Bassett, completed his life’s journey Wednesday, January 21, 2026. William had his loved ones by his side during his transition. William was born November 17, 1931, to the late Thomas Edward “Ed” and Eden Beatrice Wyatt Young. William served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He retired from CP Films in 1992, after 23 years of service. William enjoyed traveling, watching old westerns, and lesioning to country and bluegrass and southern gospel music. William was a faithful and active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Bassett. He and his late wife Mable enjoyed singing specials during regular and special services.

In addition to his parents and his wife Mabel, William was preceded in death by his previous wife, the mother of his son Eldon, Florence Nunn Young, a brother, Clarence Young, sister, Ruth white, and three stepsons, Steve and Clyde Nunn, and David Williams.

William leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, and daughter-in-law, Eldon Young, and William T. “Bill” Jr., and Robin Young, four stepchildren and their spouses, Janet and Mark Pitts, Vicky and Mike Carlisle, Garry and Marie Williams, and Scott and Jo Williams, on grandchild, Ashley Guilbault and husband Corey, and one great-grandchild, Sawyer.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, February 9, 2026, in Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor David Schultz officiating. Full Military honors will be provided by the Martinsville-Henry County Veteran’s Memorial Honor Guard prior to services. The family will receive friend one hour beginning at 12:00 Noon.

Interment will be private in Roselawn Burial Park.
