Obituaries

Willie Mae Spencer Penn, 84, transitioned on Monday, May 4, 2026 at her residence. She was born in Henry County, a daughter of the late William and Manervia Brim Spencer on March 30, 1942. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Renetta "Jean" Penn.

She was retired from First United Methodist Church as a pre-school teacher. "Mae" as she was called was a member of Mayo Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Mission Circle ministry and was a former member of the Heavenly Stars choir.

Cherishing her memory is her husband, Hozer Penn, of the home; one daughter, Tamayra (Frank) Holland, of Martinsville, VA; three sons, Timothy ( (Shelia) Penn, of Greensboro, NC; Stacy Penn, of Ridgeway, VA; James A. Penn, of Fieldale, VA; one sister, Mary Lorrine Mitchell, of Ridgeway, VA; one brother Jerry Brim, of Collinsville, VA; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral services for Mrs Penn, will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 12:00 PM at Mayo Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dwight Mack, Officiating. Burial will follow in Carver Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church one half hour prior to the funeral and will be at the home at 428 J. S. Holland Road, Ridgeway, VA at other times.

A public viewing will be held Friday, May 8, 2026 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at Hines Funeral Services.
