Invasive fire ants have not yet been identified in Henry County, but we’re surrounded.
They’re in Pittsylvania County, and as of last week, have arrived in Franklin County and spread into Patrick County, according to the Virginia Cooperative Extension service.
Fire ants are aggressive, and their sting is painful. Hot weather exacerbates the problem, and we are expecting a heat wave in the forest to arrive at the end of this week.
