Vesta man charged with assaulting his father

Patrick County Sheriff’s Office release:

A Vesta man is in jail following a disturbance that occurred on June 13th, according to Sheriff Dan Smith.

Shortly after midnight, a call came into the 911 center regarding a domestic disturbance at 7512 Jeb Stuart Highway in Vesta. Senior Deputy Eric Sain and Senior Trooper Luke D’Albero responded and found that Brandon Garrick Pegram, 33, had barricaded himself in a bedroom of the home, after allegedly assaulting his elderly father. The officers found evidence that Pegram had allegedly damaged the home and forced both the father and a female out of the residence.

Information was obtained during the investigation, indicating that Pegram was armed with a handgun. Smith called out multiple deputies with the sheriff’s office tactical team and responded. Two additional troopers also responded to assist. Dialogue was established with Pegram and he eventually surrendered. A loaded .38 caliber handgun was recovered from the room where Pegram was barricaded, according to the sheriff.Pegram was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, and domestic assault and battery. He is being held in the Patrick County Jail without bond.
