Water restored in Martinsville
Main water break at Martinsville Filtration Plant / CITY OF MARTINSVILLE

The city of Martinsville issued notice this morning that a Boil Water Advisory had been cancelled. The notice was issued on Friday when a main water line break caused a citywide water outage. Crews worked through the night and water was restored on Saturday. Many restaurants in the city were closed or open with limited menu options due to not having usable water.

Water was restored to the city Saturday morning after a main water line broke Friday afternoon, causing a citywide outage. The break was found behind the Martinsville Filtration Plant on Clearview Drive. City utility workers worked throughout the night to replace the broken pipe and restore services. A boil water notice is now in effect, and will remain so until city officials advise otherwise. City Manager Aretha-Ferrell Benavides suggested that will likely occur on Monday.
