Robin Roberts executive produced the film Breaking Glass: The Pat Summitt Story, which premieres on ESPN Sunday. The documentary explores the life and career of Pat Summitt, the legendary former Tennessee Lady Volunteers basketball coach who helped pave the way in women’s college basketball. While many people are interviewed specifically for the doc about Pat’s impact on women’s sports, Robin only appears through past interview clips and photos. Despite their close friendship, she explains why she chose not to have a leading voice in the documentary.
“It’s not about me,” Robin says, joking “you already see the different hairstyles” over the years in photos. “This is what I love about this documentary and working with [director] Dawn Porter, because this is what she does,” she explains. “It’s the people that she impacted and, more importantly, hearing Pat’s voice. You don’t wanna hear my voice, you wanna hear Pat’s voice.”
That, she adds, is the heart of the documentary.
“I get chills when I hear Pat’s voice. When I started hearing it again, when we were going through all the cuts and everything and I was like, wow,” Robin says. “So it was intentional because there’s nothing that we wanted to take, there was no way we could take away from someone as powerful. She is the story.”
The inclusion of Pat’s voice was made possible thanks to Sally Jenkins, who had previously interviewed her for the book Sum It Up: A Thousand and Ninety-Eight Victories, a Couple of Irrelevant Losses, and a Life in Perspective.
The Pat Summitt Story is also streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.

Lorne Michaels stars in director Morgan Neville’s documentary ‘Lorne.’ (Focus Features)
For decades, Lorne Michaels has made America laugh as the man behind the scenes of NBC’s Saturday Night Live. But for the most part he’s remained just that, behind the scenes.
The new documentary Lorne aims to change that, although its director, Morgan Neville, tells ABC Audio Michaels didn’t make it easy.
“I mean, the first day of shooting is literally what you see in the documentary, which is the cameras come out of the bags and Lorne vanishes,” Neville says. “Slowly, we got closer and closer. It was like making a nature documentary, and he kind of became a little more used to it.”
But while Michaels didn’t like talking about himself, plenty of people had no problem talking about him, with Michaels’ famous friends and colleagues, like Paul Simon, Steve Martin, Tina Fey, John Mulaney, Adam Sandler and more, contributing to the film.
“People do love to talk about Lorne, because for all of them, he looms large in their own stories,” says Neville. “You know, for a lot of them, he’s the reason they became famous or successful.”
The film also takes viewers inside the making of SNL, with cameras filming parts of the process most regular folks never get to witness.
Neville says the SNL footage was important because the film’s “not just Lorne’s backstory, but the dynamics he’s created and really the culture,” noting he wanted to capture that “while it still exists.”
And while moviegoers will indeed learn a lot about Michaels, they may still come away thinking he’s a bit of a mystery, and Neville’s OK with that.
“You know, Lorne is the Wizard of Oz, and on the one hand you want to learn about the Wizard of Oz,” he says, “but you also don’t want to demystify him to the point where he’s not the wizard anymore.”

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder now has a season 2 release date.
Netflix has announced that the second season of the young adult mystery series will debut on May 27. The series stars Wednesday‘s Emma Myers as the young detective Pippa Fitz-Amboi.
“After solving the Andie Bell case, Pip (Myers) is determined to fix the fallout – and stay away from any more investigations. But as Max Hastings’ (Henry Ashton) trial approaches, Connor’s (Jude Morgan-Collie) brother Jamie (Eden H-Davies) suddenly disappears, and Pip finds herself in a race against time to find him,” according to the season’s official logline.
Season 2 will consist of six 45-minute episodes. The show is based on Holly Jackson’s Good Girl, Bad Blood. Jackson adapted season 2 for the small screen along with Poppy Cogan.
Zain Iqbal, Asha Banks, Yali Topol Margalith and Freddie England also star in season 2.
