Celine Dion returns to the stage amid stiff-person syndrome battle

Celine Dion’s comeback is in full swing.
The iconic singer returned to the stage and kicked off a 26-show run in Paris over the weekend, marking six years since her last live performance and four years since she publicly announced she has stiff-person syndrome.
Dion performed to sold-out crowds on Saturday at Plenitude Arena, previously Paris La Défense Arena, in Nanterre, France, belting out both French and English songs from her extensive catalog.
“What an incredible opening night! Still taking it all in,” Dion said in an Instagram post afterward.
Footage from the concert shows Celine telling the cheering crowd, “I made a promise to come back, to be back onstage. Here I am.”
The 58-year-old singer will perform until mid-October and then take a break before resuming performances in May 2027.
In December 2022, Dion announced publicly that she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disease. She gave fans an inside look at what she was going through in her documentary, I Am: Celine Dion.

A new show from the co-creator of Friends is on the way.
Amazon MGM Studios has ordered the new show DINKS (Dual Income No Kids) from showrunner Marta Kauffman. This series will be a first-of-its kind improvised multi-camera sitcom for Prime Video.
The show stars real-life married couple June Diane Raphael and Paul Scheer. The pair executive produce and star in the show, with Jon Gabrus also set to star as a series regular.
DINKS is a comedy that follows “Josh (Scheer) and Charlie (Raphael), a couple who, in the absence of a marriage or kids, decide to literally build a life together by renovating their nightmare of a dream house,” according to its official description.
Kauffman co-created DINKS with Hannah K.S. Canter. The show is produced by their Okay Goodnight banner, Lionsgate Television and Amazon MGM Studios.
“I’ve always said I wouldn’t do another multi-cam unless someone was able to reinvent it. Okay Goodnight and I got tired of waiting, and decided we should do it ourselves,” Kauffman said. “It’s what I hoped it would be: unique, hilarious and warm. Shooting this show is like being on a roller coaster in the dark. You have no idea where it’s going to go, but you know it’s going to be fun.”
Peter Friedlander, head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios, said, “Marta Kauffman is one of the most iconic voices in comedy, and with DINKS, she’s doing what she does best — finding the humor and heart in everyday relationships — while pushing the form forward through improvisation.”
Kauffman is the writer, producer and showrunner behind Friends and Grace & Frankie.

NEON has released the first trailer for the upcoming film starring Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson and Miles Teller.
James Gray wrote and directed the crime thriller that explores the love between family and the American dream.
“Two brothers become entangled in a scheme that turns out to be too good to be true. As they try to navigate their way through the dangerous world of the Russian mafiya, family bonds begin to fray with life-altering consequences,” according to the film’s official synopsis.
The trailer starts with Teller’s character, Irwin Pearl, seemingly calling his brother, Gary Pearl, who is played by Driver.
“Hey, it’s your brother. We had a problem and it’s led to some things,” Irwin says.
We then see Driver appear as Gary, who says, “We’ll settle this whole thing.”
Later on, we see Johansson in character as Hester Pearl, Irwin’s wife, worry that Gary won’t be able to protect her and Irwin.
“I can protect us,” Irwin then assures her.
Gavin Goudey and Roman Engel also star in the upcoming movie.
Driver and Johansson previously starred in Noah Baumbach’s 2019 film Marriage Story together. They were both nominated for Academy Awards for playing the roles of Charlie and Nicole Barber in the Netflix movie.
Paper Tiger will be released in select theaters on Nov. 13 and expands to wide release on Nov. 20. It makes its North American premiere in a gala debut on Sept. 25 at the 64th New York Film Festival.

Dearest gentle reader, get prepared for exciting news regarding a Bridgerton spinoff.
Netflix and Shondaland have announced an upcoming limited series centered around the Bridgerton family’s matriarch, Lady Violet.
The currently untitled Bridgerton project will be similar to the hit series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. It will follow the early years of a younger Lady Violet and tell the story of her romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton.
Shonda Rhimes serves as a co-showrunner, executive producer and writer on the series alongside Nicholas Nardini. Tom Verica is set to direct and executive produce.
The news of this upcoming spinoff comes as season 5 of Bridgerton is being filmed in London. The new season will feature the middle Bridgerton daughter Francesca as its lead. It will also be the first season of the series to have a queer couple at the forefront of the story.
“Two years after losing her beloved husband John, Fran decides to reenter the marriage mart for practical reasons,” the season’s official logline reads. “But when John’s cousin Michaela returns to London to tend to the Kilmartin estate, Fran’s complicated feelings will have her questioning whether to stick to her pragmatic intentions or pursue her inner passions.”
Hannah Dodd will once again star as Francesca Stirling, the Countess of Kilmartin, in season 5. Francesca, who “has long felt out of place in the world,” according to a description from Netflix, “will make discoveries about herself that could change everything” in the new season.
Masali Baduza will return as Michaela Stirling, Francesca’s love interest and the cousin of her late husband. Underneath her “charming and vivacious exterior hides a vulnerable young woman who is quick to run the second she feels discomfort. But this season, Michaela must face her vulnerability head-on as she’s forced to navigate her relationship to her late cousin’s legacy — and to Francesca,” according to a description from Netflix.
Bridgerton season 5 will consist of eight episodes. Jess Brownell serves as its showrunner and executive producer, while Rhimes, Verica, Betsy Beers and Chris Van Dusen also executive produce.
