‘Heartstopper’ behind-the-scenes special ‘Ending on a Hi’ headed to Netflix

Heartstopper is about to say goodbye, but Netflix wants you to say hi to its behind-the-scenes special celebrating the series.
The streaming service has announced that Heartstopper: Ending on a Hi will debut on July 24. The behind-the-scenes special draws on unseen archival footage across all of the seasons of Heartstopper and its upcoming film.
Franchise creator Alice Oseman, the cast and executive producer Patrick Walters all come together along with some of the show’s many fans in this new special.
“Through candid interviews and fan voices, it charts the show’s creative journey, cultural impact, and lasting legacy – a love letter to the community it brought together. Because every ending is also a beginning. Somewhere, someone is about to say ‘hi’ for the very first time,” according to a description from Netflix.
Luke Hyams directed Heartstopper: Ending on a Hi. It arrives a week after the debut of the film Heartstopper Forever on July 17.
Wash Westmoreland directed Heartstopper Forever, which was written by Oseman.
Kit Connor, Joe Locke, William Gao, Yasmin Finney, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Tobie Donovan, Jenny Walser, Rhea Norwood and Leila Khan star in the movie and behind-the-scenes special.

It’s a Love Story, and audiences just said yes.
The FX series Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette has crossed 65 million hours streamed across Hulu and Disney+, according to numbers from Disney.
Its season finale marked a series high on those streaming platforms, as it was up nearly 20% from the prior week’s episode and 90% ahead of the series premiere after its first day streaming.
Additionally, the show’s premiere episode added 1 million views on Hulu and Disney+ since the finale dropped last Friday, meaning it has reached over 14 million multi-platform views across FX, Hulu and Disney+ to date.
All nine episodes of Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette are streaming now on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers.
Paul Anthony Kelly and Sarah Pidgeon star as the titular couple in this first installment of Ryan Murphy’s Love Story anthology series. It is based on the book Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy by Elizabeth Beller.
“He was the closest thing to American royalty. The country watched him grow from a boy to a beloved bachelor and media sensation. She was a star in her own right. Fiercely independent and with a singular style, she rose from being a sales assistant to an executive at Calvin Klein, and became a trusted confidante of its eponymous founder,” according to the show’s official synopsis. “As their love story unfolded on a national stage, the intense fame and media attention that came along with it threatened to rip them apart.”
The show also stars Grace Gummer as Caroline Kennedy, Naomi Watts as Jackie Kennedy Onassis and Alessandro Nivola as Calvin Klein.

Prince Jackson, son of the late pop music superstar Michael Jackson, spoke with ABC News Live Prime anchor Linsey Davis in an exclusive interview discussing the new biopic about his father, Michael.
The 29-year-old was an executive producer on the film, which was directed by Antoine Fuqua — known for Training Day and The Equalizer. The biopic, which arrived in theaters on Friday, covers Michael Jackson’s 1960s rise from his childhood music group The Jackson 5 to his solo career during the Bad tour in the late 1980s.
Prince Jackson said the movie was meant to show audiences a side of his father, who is played by Prince Jackson’s cousin Jafaar Jackson in the movie, that they may not have seen before.
“For those of us, like myself and younger, that never got to experience that [part Michael Jackson’s career], I hope that it contextualizes the growth and the rise to stardom and the hard work and effort that my father put into it,” Prince Jackson told Davis.
Prince Jackson and Jafaar Jackson, the son of Michael Jackson’s brother Jermaine Jackson, spent time together as children at Hayvenhurst — the California home of their grandfather Joe Jackson.
“One of the greatest experiences of my life — growing up with Jafaar as we did at Hayvenhurst as siblings, as cousins, making home movies to now here we are making a major motion picture about my father, his uncle — someone we both love very much,” Prince Jackson said.
The music legend’s son said he was surprised by how much it struck him to see Jafaar Jackson in costume as his father.
“[It] was really an emotional shock because I had not seen my father in a long time,” Prince Jackson told Davis. “And it was difficult to maintain and keep composure because I really just wanted to give him a hug in that moment. But I had to tell him like, ‘Jafaar, I’m proud of you. You’re gonna do great. But I need to take a little step outside and get some air.'”
Some critics have reported that the film was “sanitized” and did not dive deeper into controversies that followed Michael Jackson later in his life.
“I think that my father is probably one of the most misunderstood people out there,” Prince Jackson said. “And I hope that you get a glimpse into the life and the cause and effect that made him who he was.”
Prince Jackson also talked about his nonprofit, Heal Los Angeles Foundation. He noted how his father’s example sparked the decision to bring some families his nonprofit served to the LA premiere of Michael to give them a glimpse of the red carpet and the opportunity to meet cast members and celebrities.
“[Michael Jackson] still made time to give back and used his platform to highlight social needs,” Prince Jackson said. “And that’s where we take inspiration at the Heal Los Angeles Foundation … we want to inspire young people to be their best and to give them the tools that they need to succeed.”

Michael reclaimed the top spot at the box office this weekend, dethroning previous two-week champ The Devil Wears Prada 2.
The Michael Jackson biopic brought in $26.1 million in its fourth weekend of release. That brings its total domestic gross to $283 million.
The Devil Wears Prada 2, starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep, fell to the #2 spot with an $18 million haul, while the weekend’s new horror release, Obsession, debuted at #3 with $16.1 million.
Mortal Kombat II and The Sheep Detectives round out the top five with $13.4 million and $9.3 million, respectively.
