Alonzo Ferrail Turner, 67, of Martinsville, Virginia, entered his heavenly rest in the arms of His Savior Wednesday, August 20, 2025. He was born in Martinsville on February 26, 1958, to Marie Koger Turner and the late Charles E. Turner, Sr.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Gwen Reid and Audrey Penn; and his brother, Charles Turner, Jr.

Alonzo was of the Christian faith, a man who loved the Lord and found strength in his faith community at Greater Love Ministries. He was a graduate of George Washington Carver graduating class of 1976. He was a graduate of Patrick & Henry Community College with an Associates Degree in general studies. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Alonzo was employed three years as a window maker for M & W Windows and also worked 10 years for CP Films. He was a fan of the Raiders and enjoyed watching them play football. Alonzo was the official “taste tester” of the family, readily sampling food off of the grill. His family were the recipients of his love and kindness and will carry special memories with them of their beloved husband, father, and grandfather.

He left an incredible legacy of love and faith that will forever be imprinted on the hearts of his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Thomas Turner; mother, Marie Koger Turner; sons, Terrence Turner (Lauren), Tevin Turner; and granddaughter, Gabrielle Turner.

A funeral will be held Monday, September 1, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Greater Love Ministries with Pastor Avery Preston officiating. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one-half hour prior to the service. A floating visitation will be held Sunday, August 31, 2025, from 2:00-5:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive visitors at the home located at 3544 Spencer-Preston Road, Martinsville, Virginia, from 2:00-6:00 PM on the following days: Tuesday, August 26, Wednesday, August 27, and Thursday, August 28, 2025.
