Obituaries

Betty Jane Minter Scott, age 88 of Kill Devil Hills, N.C. and formerly of Bassett, VA, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 after a decline in health.

Mrs. Scott was born on September 7, 1937 to L. Moses Minter and Maggie Kasey Minter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded death by her husband, Reginald Scott, five sisters; Ruth Boswell, Foster Harris, JoAnn Jarrett, Adna Thomasson and Thelma Durham, fours brothers; Luther Minter, Clifford Minter, Billy Minter and Blanton Minter. She was employed for over 30 years with Stanley Furniture in the finishing department. She owned and operated S & S Mini Market for a short period of time and later was employed by Avalon Fishing Pier in Kill Devil Hills for over 20 years. She was a long member of Fort Trial Christian Church. She enjoyed fishing, playing softball, loved watching NASCAR and football.

Betty is survived by a sister, Carol Koger, step-daughter, Kathy Kitchen, grandson, Wills Kitchen (Sarah), great grandchildren; Brielle, Lucas, Liam and Micah. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A special thanks to Martha and Sean Phillips, Chris and Amy Carter and Arlene Ribeiro for their loving care given to our love one.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 1:00 PM in Roselawn Burial Park with Wills Kitchen officiating.

Collinsville-McKee-Stone Funeral Home is in charge.
