Obituaries

Cynthia Marie Anderson, 60, of Fieldale, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025. She was born on September 23, 1965, to Shirley Marie Shelton, and is also lovingly remembered by her stepfather, Curtis Armstrong. Cynthia was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Armstrong, her husband; Jimmy Dillon; and her fiancé, Ernest Brodie.

Cynthia worked as an Environmental Specialist for the Philpott Dam. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. Cynthia enjoyed taking cruises, spending time with her family and friends, and had a special love for her fur-baby, Remy.

In addition to her mother and stepfather, she leaves to cherish her memory are her three sons, James Ray Dillon (Sarah), Brandon Michael Dillon, and Joshua Brett Dillon; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Dana Dodson (Marvin) and Christina Denton (John); her brothers, Roger Lee Bowles Jr. (Regina) and David Atkins (Christina); her honorary sister, Robin Walker; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM in the chapel. Interment will follow at Chaney Family Cemetery.
