George William Houck, 46, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025. He was born February 7, 1979, in Prince Georges County, Maryland to the late Bernard Richard Houck, Sr. and Colleen Shields Houck.

George worked in the furniture industry and was employed by Southern Finishing. He was known for his strong work ethic and the pride he took in everything that he did. He was a graduate of Northern High School in Owings, Maryland, class of 1997. George was of the Christian faith and loved Jesus. He had a huge heart for his family, especially his children, and was a proud “Pop Pop”. He spent much of his time outdoors, whether raising chickens, working in the yard, or doing tree work, and he enjoyed the simple things; like a bacon cheeseburger with ketchup only. Music was part of his every day life. He carried with him the biggest, loudest and most infectious laugh that could light up any room and keep everyone around him in laughter. George also loved playing video games with his son, cheering on the Redskins, and soaking up every special moment with those he loved. Above all, he cherished his lifelong sweetheart, Stephanie, whom he had loved faithfully since the fourth grade.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Stephanie; sons, Nathaniel “Nate” Nalls (Kaylee), Donovan “Uncle D” Nalls; sisters, Heather Houck, Angel Houck, Crystal Martinez; brother, Bernard Houck, Jr. (Melissa); grandson, Asher James; and nephews, Nathan, Caden, LJ and Nick; mother-in-law; Diane Nalls; and sister-in-law, Betsy Akers (Billy).

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, August 29, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Martinsville Chapel, 1425 Greensboro Road, Martinsville, Virginia 24112. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
