Obituaries

John Leland Teegen, of Danville, VA formerly of Bassett, Virginia, passed away on January 10, 2026. He was born on June 16, 1963, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Bill and Peggy Teegen. He was also proceeded in death by his sister, Marsha Teegen Quisenberry.

John was a father, brother, and friend. He is survived by his daughter, Heather Kinney (Josh), and grandchildren Kole and Gracie, of Florida; and his son, John Teegen (Jamie), and grandchildren Brody, Penelope, and Violet, of Arizona. He is also survived by his sister, Peggy Rogers (Joe), of Bassett; his brother, Bill Teegen (Lorrie), of Martinsville; and many nieces and nephews.

John was a member of Fort Trial Baptist Church and a proud graduate of Bassett High School, Class of 1981. He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Washington Redskins, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on his teams. He also had a deep love for music, especially hard rock, with Led Zeppelin holding a special place among his favorites.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 20, at 1:00 p.m., at Wrights Funeral Chapel in Bassett with visitation one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Peggy Rogers, located at 440 Woodland Road, Bassett, Virginia.

John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
