The Sony/Marvel film brought in $145 million in its second weekend of release to hold strong at #1 at the box office.
That total follows its record-breaking $360 million debut in North America, which propelled it past Avengers: Endgame as the biggest domestic debut of all time. It has now surpassed $1.5 billion globally.
The weekend’s other new releases didn’t come close to catching Spidey. One Night Only, the rom-com about the one night a year when single people are allowed to have sex, came in at #3 with $5.7 million. The comedy Super Troopers 3 came in at #4 with $4 million.

(SPOILER ALERT) Still they rise!
Fan-favorite contestants Trinity Tatum and Bryce Detloff were crowned the winners of Love Island USA season 8 during Sunday night’s finale of the reality dating competition series.
Emmy-nominated host Ariana Madix named Tatum and Detloff the winners of the season before awarding them the $100,000 prize.
The winners coupled up on day one inside of the villa. Throughout the season their connection blossomed, with Detloff eventually asking Tatum to be his girlfriend. He confessed his love for her during their date on finale night. Tatum immediately reciprocated by telling Detloff she also loves him.
Contestants Aniya Harvey and Carl Schmidt were the runners-up, while Melanie Moreno and Sincere Rhea got third place, and Kayda Bosse and Zach Georgiou came in fourth.
While this is the end of season 8, the Islanders are set to reunite at the Love Island USA season 8 reunion special, which will be co-hosted by Madix and Andy Cohen.
According to Peacock, the reunion special will bring together “this season’s winners, fan-favorite couples, and this year’s bombshells for an up close and personal look back at their experience in the villa.”
The season 8 reunion special will premiere Aug. 31 on Peacock.
Additionally, the spinoff series Love Island: Beyond the Villa has been renewed for season 3. The new season will premiere in 2027 with its cast to be confirmed later in 2026.

George Clooney and Amal Clooney evacuated their home in Brignoles, France, this week as wildfires tore through the region, sending a moving note to the town’s mayor as they left.
The actor and human rights attorney informed Didier Bremond, the mayor of Brignoles, of their departure in a note shared with ABC News by a representative for Clooney on Thursday.
“At this point we have no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment and as we evacuate Brignoles we want to emphasise 2 things,” the note read. “First we hope you and the people of our city are safe and second that Amal and i are committed to making sure that whatever happens to our village, we are part of this community and we’ll be part of making it whole.”
“We love Brignoles and our friends who live there,” the note concluded.
Brignoles is located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of southeastern France and has a population of around 18,000, according to a recent census.
A wildfire broke out near the town on Wednesday, burning approximately 321 acres of vegetation before it was contained around 3 a.m. local time, but not fully extinguished, according to local authorities. Four firefighters were injured while battling the blaze, authorities said in an update Thursday, adding that firefighters were still working to put out the flames.
Wildfires are currently burning through large swaths of southern Europe, including parts of Greece, France and Spain, and as far north as the U.K. Hundreds of thousands of residents have been evacuated amid the fires, with sweltering heat waves blanketing the region, worsening conditions.
George Clooney and Amal Clooney reportedly purchased their home in France in 2021, according to The Associated Press.
George Clooney discussed his life in France in a 2025 interview with Esquire, describing what it was like for his family to live on farm in the country.
“Yeah, we’re very lucky,” he said at the time. “You know, we live on a farm in France. A good portion of my life growing up was on a farm, and as a kid I hated the whole idea of it. But now, for [my kids], it’s like — they’re not on their iPads, you know? They have dinner with grown-ups and have to take their dishes in. They have a much better life.”

Voicemails for Isabelle is calling, and Leah McKendrick wants you to answer.
McKendrick wrote and directed the new Netflix rom-com, which became the #1 film in the U.S. during its first weekend on the streaming service. She spoke to ABC Audio just ahead of the film’s release, where she said romantic comedies raised her.
“Longing has been a big theme in my life. Longing for my career, longing for love. And I think for a longing girl, a rom-com is her genre,” McKendrick said. “I believe that rom-coms are for everybody, but I think the girls really own that. And are unabashed about it.”
The rom-com follows a young chef named Jill (Zoey Deutch), who copes with the loss of her sister and best friend, Isabelle (Ciara Bravo), by leaving her voicemails describing her chaotic life.
McKendrick says the idea for this story came from her relationship with her own sister.
“My little sister is my first love and true love, and I feel like she’s the one that taught me what that even looks like,” McKendrick said. “When she was in college in New York and I was struggling for my dreams in LA, I would call her and leave these rambling voicemails.”
The voicemails featured McKendrick “crying about the job I didn’t get, the guy that I went on a bad date with or boy problems” — the list goes on and on.
“It’s really hard to curate a voicemail. I think it’s a stream of consciousness, especially if you’re talking to your sister,” McKendrick said. “I just thought, ‘I want a love story where a man falls in love with her for her heart and not for the way that she looks or the boxes that she checks or the chemistry that they have when they meet.’ It’s just really just him witnessing her.”
