Federal cases from the cities of Martinsville and Danville and the counties of Henry, Patrick, Pittsylvania, Halifax, and Charlotte will be heard in either Lynchburg or Roanoke.
The Danville Federal Courthouse ceased being a courthouse over the weekend after years of requests to have the facility upgraded with modern safety features. When the request fell on deaf ears, a request was made to have the courts move to another facility in Danville, but nothing changed.
As of Saturday, the longtime courthouse ceased being one.
