Obituaries

Amos Harness Parsons, 63, of Fieldale, Virginia, transitioned from this earthly life Friday, February 6, 2026, at his home. He was born in Petersburg, West Virginia, on May 23, 1962, to the late Adam Miles Parsons, Jr. and Trixie Jean Reel Parsons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 22 years, Holly McDonald Parsons; sisters, Esther Olinger and Betty Otto and his brother, James Robert Parsons.

Amos was of the Christian faith and part of the Baptist Church denomination. Following graduation, he continued his education in the welding trade. He was a skilled welder who loved working with his hands and fixing things, even if it meant learning something new. He also enjoyed woodworking. He found contentment being outdoors whether fishing, hunting, or gardening. Amos enjoyed watching good westerns. He will always be remembered for the love he had for his family, especially while enjoying time with his grandchildren. He was an incredible husband, father, and grandfather whose legacy of love and laughter will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Downing, Jessica Parsons; stepdaughter, Christine Murphy (Cliff); sons, Matthew Parsons (Anna); stepson, David Haddy (Samantha); sister, Priscilla Parsons; brothers, Miles Parsons (Sharon), Andy Parsons; grandchildren, Jeremiah Downing, Jasmine Downing, Jada Downing, Farrah Higby, Frankie Murphy, Dakota Haddy, August Haddy, Briar-Ray Parsons; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Services will be held at a later date. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and support that has been shown during their time of grief.
