James “MOFO” Larry Nolen, 68, of Fieldale, Virginia passed away Monday, December 9, 2024. He was born December 18, 1955, in Martinsville, Virginia to the late Barney Elmo Nolen and Vernie Irene Napier Nolen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas Ryan Marshall.

James was of the Christian faith and retired from Koger Air where he worked as a welder for over twenty years. He was a hippie and loved the outdoors, Harley bikes, and tinkering in his garage. He enjoyed old rock music and was a Jelly Roll fan. He loved the attention of his wife who was the love of his life. “MOFO” was one of a kind.

He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-five years, Cynthia Denise Marshall Nolen; daughters, Crystal Star Cooper (Vance) and Alyssa “Nikki” Nolen Bateman (Steven); sisters, Joan Grogan (Wayne) and Cindy Mabe (Gary); brother, Johnny Nolen (Linda); grandchildren, Fiona Cooper, Gwen Cooper, and Bryson Bateman.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor A.C. Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at the Nolen Family Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, December 16, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.
