Obituaries

Phillip Wayne Woods, 73, of Martinsville, Virginia, transitioned to his heavenly home Tuesday, October 14, 2025. He was born March 27, 1952, in Franklin County to the late Herman Andrew Woods and Dorothy Elizabeth O’Dell.

Phillip was of the Christian faith and founded the One Accord Baptist Church. After 25 years of ministry, he then joined with Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, Virginia, where he faithfully served until, he was welcomed into heaven. He enjoyed a full life with many adventures while camping, fishing, and riding motorcycles. He was a devoted husband to his lovely wife, Angela, and he dearly loved his children and grandchildren. Phillip loved spending time with ALL his family and friends, sharing life and making memories with them all. He also loved all his fur babies. Phillip was a wonderful carpenter and had his own construction company which allowed him to make lasting friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 41 years, Angela Smith Woods; daughter, Tina Woods-Crenshaw (Bradley); son, Dorsey “Dos” Randolph Woods (Brittany); brother, Jerry Andrew Woods (Loraine); grandchildren, Katie Anne-Hope Woods, Emerson Leigh Woods; as well as many extended family and friends.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM at One Accord Baptist Church, 3630 Kings Mountain Rd, Martinsville, Virginia 24112 with Reverend Dr. J.D. Harmon, Pastor Don Reynolds, and Pastor Blake Neal officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Mausoleum, 103 Clearview Drive, Martinsville, Virginia. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service. Memorials may be made to the Snow Creek Volunteer Fire Department, 7049 Snow Creek Rd, Penhook, Virginia 24137.
