Obituaries

Polly Ann Kendrick, 79, of Axton, Virginia, entered her eternal rest with her Savior Thursday, January 22, 2026. She was born in Washinton County, Virginia, on December 14, 1946, to Mary Elizabeth Scott and the late Willie Urvin Scott.

In addition to her father, she was predeceased by her son, Jerry Widener.

Polly was of the Christian faith and found great strength in the Lord and in her faith community when she attended Clearview Wesleyan Church in Martinsville, Virginia. She was employed by Compton’s Wood Works for many years. Polly had diverse interests, including her love for flowers (particularly lilies), jewelry, and shopping yard sales. The family will fondly remember her as being an amazing cook. She had a personality that ensured she got anything she wanted. Her legacy of faith and love will forever be remembered by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Larry W. Kendrick; daughter, Donna H. Able of Abingdon, Virginia; sisters, Teresa Benson (David) of Troutville, Virginia, Terry Scott (Jay) of Buchannan, Virginia, Sara Gravitte (Mitch) of Waynesboro, Virginia; brother, Billy J. Thomas of Demascus; and special sister, Debra Rasnake of Glade Springs, Virginia.

The family will hold a private burial at Knoll Craig Cemetery in Abingdon, Virginia.
