Nick Jonas to star in horror holiday flick, ‘White Elephant’

Nick Jonas has lined up his next movie project.
The youngest Jonas Brother is set to star in a horror holiday flick called White Elephant, alongside Kathryn Newton.
Deadline reports that the film is about eight friends whose “annual festive holiday gift exchange spirals into a cutthroat game of Christmas carnage.” It will be directed by Clown in a Cornfield’s Eli Craig.
“Let’s get it! So excited about this one.” Nick wrote on his Instagram Story.
White Elephant is the latest in a string of recent acting gigs for Nick. He’ll be seen next in Power Ballad opposite Paul Rudd, out in theaters June 5. He’ll also star in the latest Jumanji installment with Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, and Kevin Hart, due out later this year.

HBO has renewed its upcoming Harry Potter series for a second season. This renewal announcement comes months ahead of the debut of the show’s first season. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone will air on HBO and debut to HBO Max on Christmas Day 2026. Season 2 is set to begin production in fall 2026.
Additionally, Succession‘s Jon Brown, who was a writer on season 1, has been promoted to co-showrunner for season 2. He will serve in the role alongside Francesca Gardiner, the showrunner of season 1.
“As we have laid out our plans for the overlapping production schedules to finish season one by Christmas and to return to production for season two this Autumn, it has become clear that bringing on a co-showrunner is the key to maintaining our momentum,” Gardiner said. “I’ve loved working with Jon from the very first day we met on Succession through to these recent times together on Harry Potter. Not only do I have huge admiration for his writing, but he’s also a brilliant collaborator and a lovely person. We are lucky to have him.”
Brown said he is “incredibly excited” to collaborate with Gardiner as co-showrunners.
“It has been a joy to write on Philosopher’s Stone and I’d like to thank Francesca and HBO for putting their faith in me to continue this remarkable journey. Seems you’re never too old to get your invitation to Hogwarts,” Brown said.
Dominic McLaughlin leads the cast as Harry Potter. He stars alongside Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton, who play Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The show is described as a faithful adaptation of the books by J.K. Rowling, who serves as an executive producer.

Sinners star Michael B. Jordan and director Ryan Coogler are opening up on making Oscar nominations history.
The actor-director duo sat down for an interview with Good Morning America‘s Chris Connelly to discuss Sinners, which gathered a record-breaking 16 Oscar nominations, and their partnership, which has been over a decade in the making.
Coogler and Jordan recalled meeting in a Starbucks in 2011 to discuss their first joint project, Fruitvale Station.
“He reassured me. ‘Mike, I think you’re a movie star. Let’s go do this,'” Jordan said Coogler told him at the time.
The pair also discussed the moment they both realized that they had broken Oscars history on Oscar nomination morning.
Jordan said he woke up to missed messages and called his mother. “It felt great. You know, just to kind of hear her happiness and joy and knowing how much that she poured into me.”
Coogler said he watched the nominations with his spouse, Zinzi Coogler, who is also nominated as a producer on the film, and the pair celebrated with waffles.
Sinners marks the fifth collaboration between Coogler and Jordan, a partnership that includes the Creed movies and Black Panther.
Coogler reflected on what makes Jordan such an effective presence on screen.
“There’s a magic to Mike that I think like Tom Hanks has, where you see him and you care about him,” Coogler said. “As a character, he does everything. So what that gives him is an incredible amount of empathy when he’s on the screen,” Coogler said, adding that he also has “incredible drive.”
The pair said working together for as many years as they have has allowed them to work in sync.
“We complement one another,” said Jordan.
“You kind of know what the other person might need at a particular time to achieve a certain goal,” Coogler added.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II takes on the role of a former special forces mercenary named John Creasy in the new Netflix series Man on Fire, which fans can now get a glimpse of.
A trailer for the series has dropped and is available to watch on YouTube.
Man on Fire will follow the story of John, who has post-traumatic stress disorder and is in search of a fresh start. While on his journey, he finds himself under fire as he faces personal demons.
The show is based on author A.J. Quinnell’s book series, which includes his 1980 novel Man on Fire. The seriesarrives after the 2004 film of the same name, which featured Denzel Washington as John Creasy.
The new series also stars Billie Boullet, Bobby Cannavale, Alice Braga, Scoot McNairy and Paul Ben-Victor. It premieres April 30 on Netflix.
