Yerin Ha as Sophie and Luke Thompson as Benedict in ‘Bridgerton’ season 4. (Liam Daniel/Netflix)
A certain second son is swept off his feet by a mystery woman at a masquerade ball in Bridgerton season 4.
The first part of the fourth season of Bridgerton has made its way to Netflix. It finds Benedict Bridgerton (LukeThompson) taking center stage as he falls for the resourceful housemaid Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha).
Thompson told Good Morning America that Benedict has probably been running away from love for a long time.
“He’s someone who’s lost his dad very young and watched his mum mourn his dad. So, you can see why a loving relationship might look like something pretty terrifying to him,” Thompson said. “Because it’s sort of facing … the reality of life and death square in the face.”
Benedict is known for being something of a “rake” at the beginning of season 4. As the Bohemian second-born son, he has been loathe to settle down. But, “like any good coping mechanism,” Thompson said, being noncommittal has started to get old.
Still, the innocent nature of Benedict and Sophie’s coupling, Thompson said, makes for quite a surprising love story.
“He’s a character that, the way it’s written, has constantly got a lot of surprises,” Thompson said. “The innocence of this story, certainly the beginning, is not necessarily [what] I thought Benedict’s love story would look like. But, amazing. Because it really does make sense of his character.”
The first part of Bridgerton season 4 is available to watch now. Part two drops on Feb. 26.

We now know who will take over Prue Leith‘s spot as the new judge on The Great British Bake Off.
The popular baking competition show has announced that Nigella Lawson will be the new judge on the program.
“We’re delighted to announce that Nigella Lawson is joining The Great British Bake Off as our new judge!” the show’s official account wrote in its Instagram announcement.
Along with a photo of Lawson, the account shared a statement from the food writer and TV chef about how she feels to be joining the show.
“I’m uncharacteristically rather lost for words right now! Of course it’s daunting to be following in the footsteps of Prue Leith and Mary Berry before her, great dames both, but I’m also bubbling with excitement,” Lawson said.
She called Bake Off “more than a television programme, it’s a National Treasure – and it’s a huge honour to be entrusted with it.”
“I’m just thrilled to be joining the team and all the new bakers to come. I wish the marvellous Prue all the best, and am giddily grateful for the opportunity!” Lawson continued.
The Great British Bake Off, which goes by the name The Great British Baking Show on Netflix, is also judged by Paul Hollywood. The program is hosted by Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding. Leith joined the show in 2017, replacing the original judge, Berry.
Leith shared her excitement for Lawson in the post’s comment section.
“I was so hoping it would be Nigella! Brilliant choice,” Leith wrote.
Many Bake Off winners and British stars sent well wishes Lawson’s way in the comments — including Paddington Bear’s official Instagram account.
“Dear Nigella. First of all, congratulations. Second of all, please can we make a formal request for a marmalade week?” the famous British bear wrote.
Teyana Taylor at Disney Advertising Upfront. (Disney/Jose Alvarado)
Teyana Taylor is giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come when she hosts the Jan. 23 episode of Saturday Night Live. She flexes her acting chops in a promo clip released on social media Wednesday.
In the teaser, Teyana listens as cast member Ashley Padilla vents about Andrew Dismukes eating her eggplant parmesan. After hearing the news, she suggests Ashley seek vengeance and transforms into a look akin to Angela Bassett‘s Bernadine in the popular Waiting to Exhale burning car scene.
In the film, Bassett’s character, filled with emotion after her husband leaves her for a younger white secretary, goes into his closet and collects his expensive clothes. She uses a wagon to bring them out to his BMW, pours gasoline on top and lights it all on fire. Teyana channels this energy in the SNL clip as she helps Ashley gather Andrew’s belongings into a wagon before setting it ablaze.
“Why? Was this about the parm?” Andrew asks when he sees his things burning. Reciting the lines from Waiting to Exhale, Teyana responds, “Get yo s***! Get yo s***! And GET OUT!”
Rock band Geese will make their SNL debut as musical guest Saturday.
