Obituaries

Barbara Eggleston Smith, 73, of Martinsville, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at her residence. She was born January 5, 1949 in Martinsville, to the late Henry Eggleston and Cassie Haislip Eggleston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Eric Smith; and sister, Beatrice Neri.

She had been employed by Walmart, and attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. She enjoyed gardening and was interested in wildlife and plant life. She had a passion for cooking, was keen about herbal remedies and homeopathy. She made soap and enjoyed having chickens, and had a thrift shopping addiction. She was a full-time volunteer sharing her faith with others.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ronald Smith; daughters, Amy Thomas and Krystal Chance (Garen); son, Jason Smith; brother, Billy Eggleston; grandchildren, Alexis, Micah, Lyric, Remy, Vincent, Errica, Eric, and Elijah; and great-grandson, Jamari.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses .
