Obituaries

Carlton Vinson Reid, 76, of Martinsville, Virginia, departed this life peacefully at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. He was born May 26, 1949, in Martinsville, Virginia to the late James Early Reid and the late Amie Elizabeth Pettie Harris. Carlton was educated at Albert Harris High School. He was an employee of Tultex Corporation for 30 years and Sara Lee until his retirement. Carlton was an all-around athlete. He played basketball, football, softball, baseball, tennis, bowling and golf. He was also a talented artist. Carlton was a faithful member of New Beginning Holiness Church.

Carlton is survived by his wife, Vickie Reid of the home; one son, Daren (Lori) Reid; one daughter, Sharon Reid; a bonus daughter, Jinger (Terence) Taylor, 3 sisters; Rhonda J. Reid, Ronald Keith (Beulah) Harris, Cornelia Logan, Joseph O. Harris, Sharon B. Harris and Jeffrey E. Harris; 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; 3 aunts, Zenola Owens, Charmaine Jones and Shelia Pettie; 2 uncles, Ronald “Cheez” Pettie and Conway Pettie; and host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Carlton's life will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 22, 2025, in Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services beginning at 12:00 Noon. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park Abby.
