Carolyn Sue McGuire Evans of Martinsville, VA passed away peacefully at home on December 9, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with Huntington’s Disease and was welcomed into Heaven and the loving arms of Jesus Christ. She was born on May 20, 1948, in Martinsville to the late John Ramsey McGuire and Gertrude Donavant McGuire. She was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Robert (Bob) Gray, III.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 44 years, Larry Evans; her dedicated sister, Janice (Jan) Gray Holbrook of Lakeland, FL; loving niece, Jennifer Gray of Cross Lanes, WV; and many McGuire and Donavant cousins. She was a sweet and humble woman who dearly loved her family and friends.

After graduation from Drewry Mason High School in 1966 and Danville Technical Institute in 1968, she began a 34-year career with The Lester Group. Carolyn was a lifelong member of Chatham Heights Baptist Church and Villa Heights Baptist Church. She enjoyed membership in the choir, Sunday School class, and Baptist Women’s Group.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 11:00am to 12:00pm at Chatham Heights Baptist Church, 1235 Chatham Heights Road, Martinsville. A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm following the visitation with Rev. Dr. Michael Hatfield officiating. The service will be livestreamed at 12:00 noon. Interment of the ashes will be held at Roselawn Burial Park at a later date.

The family would like to thank the caregivers who provided excellent care for Carolyn at home for the past two years, and the Hospice staff. They will not be forgotten for the loving care they gave her.
