Obituary For Deena Ann Conner Furgeson

Deena Ann Conner Furgeson, 52, of Virginia, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. She was born on August 18, 1972, in North Carolina to Glen Conner and the late Wanda Oliver. In addition to her mother, Deena was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents: Edgar and Annie Sue Oliver, Robert and Myrtle Hollandsworth, and Jewel Conner, as well as several aunts and uncles.

Deena was a dedicated employee in the bakery department at Walmart, where she joyfully decorated cakes and brought smiles to many through her creativity and talent. Deena was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family deeply.

She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Wayne Furgeson, and her cherished children: Brenton Furgeson (Alicia), Ryan Furgeson (Cole), Bryce Furgeson, Brooklyn Furgeson (Tristen), and Alexandra Kimball. She was a proud grandmother to Halie Boyer, Grayson Boyer, and Christian Deshazo.

In addition to her father, Glen Conner, she is also survived by her stepmother, Denise Conner; two half-sisters, Sonya Short (Ralph) and Melissa Flippen; one half-brother, Frankie Flippen (Michelle); and several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. She also leaves behind her uncle, Thomas Oliver (Jean); her father-in-law, Charles Furgeson; mother-in-law, Deborah Bretz (Richard); brother-in-law, Charles Furgeson, Jr.; and sister-in-law, Sarah Furgeson.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel, with Rev. Eugene Pearson officiating. Interment will follow at Jack’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
