Obituary For Hazel Virginia Martin Galloway
Hazel Virginia Martin Galloway, 89, of Martinsville, Virginia, peacefully transitioned from this life on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. She was born on April 11, 1937, in Spencer, Virginia, to the late Robert Ellis Martin and Minnie Sue Hairston Martin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard C. Galloway, Sr.; her brothers, Robert Lee Martin, John Henry Martin, and James William Martin; and her grandson, James Calvin Miller, Jr.
Hazel was united in marriage to the late Leonard C. Galloway, Sr., and together they shared many years of love and devotion.
Her faith and love for the Lord were guiding lights throughout her life. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Shiloh Temple Apostolic Church for more than forty years under the leadership of Bishop James R. Ziglar. Later, she attended Reach Out Apostolic Temple under the leadership of Bishop Lorenso Hall until her health no longer allowed her to continue.
At Shiloh Temple Apostolic Church, Hazel faithfully served as a member of the Adult Choir, Missionary Board, and Usher Board. She was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever she was needed. Above all, she cherished her family and found great joy in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Priscella Martin of Martinsville, Virginia, Linda Lynch of Ridgeway, Virginia, Leonard C. Galloway, Jr. (Patricia) of Williamsburg, Virginia, Deborah Miller of Martinsville, Virginia, and Steven Leon Galloway (Carlisa) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; sisters, Dorothy Peay (Ted) of Asheville, North Carolina, and Peggy Hairston of Martinsville, Virginia; brother, Walter Martin of Martinsville, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Berta Martin of Bassett, Virginia, and Fannie Martin of Charlottesville, Virginia; grandchildren, Tiffany Youmans, Rodrick Miller, Christopher Galloway, Wydell Lynch, Callie Galloway, and Ja’Carlin Galloway; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 1:00 PM at The Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, 725 Beechnut Lane Martinsville, Virginia 24112, with Elder Dale Earnest Long officiating. Interment will follow at Fair Haven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A floating visitation will be held Friday, June 12, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Martinsville Chapel. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 11, 2026, and Friday, June 12, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:30PM.
