Obituary For James "Brian" Turner

James “Brian” Turner, 53, of Axton, Virginia passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024. He was born October 5, 1971, in Martinsville, Virginia to Frances Pickurel Turner and the late Sammy McKinley Turner.

Brian was a member of New Life Community Church where he was part of the Coordination Team and was a great support for the group KFC (Kids for Christ), where he could bring any story to life by dressing up and acting out the characters of the story. Brian was dedicated to Koger Air for more than 25 years of his life. He loved his family and made sure everyone around him was taken care of. Brian was an amazing father and grandpa; his compassionate heart and sense of humor will be missed by everyone that knew him. He was everyone’s best friend and never wronged anyone; always just a phone call away for anyone that needed him. He was happier giving to others than receiving anything in return. Brian loved to enjoy life and in his spare time you would find him racing on dirt tracks, Super Stock 4 racing, and riding motorcycles. He also had a love for nature and being outdoors, especially with Tammy, floating down the river. In addition to floating down the river, Brian loved to turkey hunt whenever he could and was an avid sports fan. Brian loved the Lord and truly had a servant’s heart; he exemplified that by truly being the hands and feet of Jesus.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixteen years, Tammy Secrest Turner; sons, Matthew Austin Turner (Hannah), Thomas D. Clark (Morgan), and Hunter R. Clark; sister, Penny Turner-Daniel (Tom); brother, Jon Turner (Gina); grandchildren, Jackson and Gideon; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family and friends.

A memorial service Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 4:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Terry Knighten officiating. A visitation will be held Friday, December 13, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Donations can be made in memory of James “Brian” Turner to: Victory Junction, 4500 Adam’s Way, Randleman, North Carolina 27317 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
