Obituaries

John Joseph Nemeth, Jr., 83, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away Monday, June 1, 2026. He was born December 10, 1942, in Kingston, North Carolina to the late John Joseph Nemeth, Sr. and Belva Guthire Nemeth.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, David Nemeth; and granddaughter, Jennifer Nemeth.

John was employed by the Virginia Department of Transportation, where he dedicated many years of service. In addition to his professional career, he was the proud owner and operator of J & J Trains, a hobby shop that reflected his passion for trains and brought joy to fellow enthusiasts throughout the community. His love for trains and his strong work ethic left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He had a strong passion for Christmas lights and award winning roses.

He is survived by son, Joseph “Joey” Nemeth (Joyce); grandson, Joe Nemeth (Sarah); great grandson, Landon Nemeth; niece, Tracy Christian.

A private burial will be held at Mountain View Cemetery, located at 711 Church Street, Ridgeway, Virginia.
