Obituaries

John Keith Bocock, 62, of Patrick Springs, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at his home. He was born on March 3, 1960, in Patrick County to the late Reverend James and Cleo Bocock. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, James “Jimmy” Bocock; and his father-in-law, Kenneth Mize.

John retired from the Patrick County Sheriff Office after 33 years of dedicated service as the co-captain of the jail and the firearms instructor. John was a longtime member of Northside Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He loved the outdoors and could often be found fishing and hunting in his free time. He was an avid fan of Buggs Island and was a part of their Striper Club.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie M. Bocock; brother, Billy Bocock (Sandra); four sisters: Gretchen Padgett (Ricky), Patsy Ratliff, Linda Reynolds (Calvin), and Carol Manuel (Jimmy); mother-in-law, Peggy Mize; grandmother-in-law, Verna Ramsey; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 27, 2022, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Reverends Brandon DuPont and Ron Peal officiating. Roy Sowder will be the speaker. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens in Stuart.
