Joseph Wayne “Dutch” Murphy, 83, of Spencer, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025. He was born August 29, 1941, in Henry County, Virginia, to the late Jim Murphy and Annie Dale Philpott Murphy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

Joseph will be remembered for the way his life was lived, and for the impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Verler Frances Neal Murphy; son, Stephen W. Murphy; one sister and one brother.

All services are private.
