Obituary For Richard "Dickie" Carlton Brickey

Richard “Dickie” Carlton Brickey, 82, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at his home in Bassett, Virginia. He was born June 19, 1942, in Marion, Virginia, to the late Ralph C. Brickey and Ethel Mae Brickey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Cathy Harman and Ruthie Stephenson; and five brothers, Ralph Brickey, Horace Brickey, Ronnie Brickey, Charlie Brickey, and Roy Brickey.

Richard was the co-owner of B&D Motors and the proud owner of Lawbrick Property. A cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he will be deeply missed. He was also known for his quick wit, always telling jokes and spreading laughter to those around him. Richard, or Dickie as many knew him, found joy in sharing quiet mornings with his beloved wife Louise over a cup of coffee.

Dickie had a deep love for the Lord and frequently shared his personal testimony, inviting others to join him at church. He faithfully attended Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren, where he cherished his church family as much as his own.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Louise Brickey; two children, Karen B. Easter and Sharon B. Lawson(Darryl); four grandchildren, Melissa Easter Calfee (Jeremiah), Michelle Easter, Ricky Lawson, and Ashley Capps (Brandon); seven great-grandchildren, Sage Easter Calfee, Colton Calfee, Kadence Easter, Knoxley Calfee, Kinder Easter, Benelli Capps, Elowen Capps; two sisters, Carol Grimes and Connie Brickey; and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 5:00 PM, at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Noel Naff and Pastor Kenny Rich officiating. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 4:00 PM. The burial will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Roselawn Burial Park.

Bassett Funeral Service is serving the Brickey family.
