Obituaries

Shirley Ann Penn, 76, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. She was born April 26, 1948 to the late Soloman Manns and Lucille Elizabeth Scales Kellam.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marvin Ester Penn; daughter, Stephanie Valentine; and brothers, Daniel Manns, Drewey Moore, and Eugene Manns.

Shirley attended Shiloh Way of the Cross. She took every opportunity she could to spend time with her family and children. Shirley was a giver and she enjoyed being a part of the church. In her free time, she enjoyed working with flowers.

She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Penn, Opal Smith, and Corona Martin (Delano); son, Marvin Penn; sisters, Sallie Redd (Ernest) and Edith Hitchcock (Charles); seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Bishop Dillard officiating. A visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service. A floating visitation will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service.
