Obituaries

Stafford Lee “Mickey” Ross, 75, of Martinsville, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022, at his home. He was born April 6, 1947, in Bassett, to the late Posey Ross and Mayomie Stanley Ross.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Geraldine Dodson, Goldie Doretha Walker, and Ocie Ross; and brothers, Thomas V. Ross, Jesse Ross, and Edward Posie Ross.

He attended Lily of the Valley Holiness Church in Bassett, and was employed for twenty years by Charles Calloway Construction. He enjoyed watching westerns, and the Price is Right. He loved Mountain Dew and chicken and dumplings.

Mickey is survived by his wife, Dorothy Marie Ross; daughter, Tammy Ross Wright (Rodney); sisters, Bonnie James (Wayne), Wyneater Dodson (Herman), Flora Craighead, and Susan Warren; brothers, James Ross, Larry Ross “Donnie”, and Jerry Ross (Titshia); sister-in-law, Lillie May Ross; grandchildren, Shante Gravely and Troy Gravely; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Friday, October 28, 2022, at 12:00 PM, at Wright Funeral Service Chapel, with visitation 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Stanley Family Cemetery.
