Obituaries

Barbara Lynn Duncan Dove, 71, of Martinsville, VA passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born on September 26, 1953, in Martinsville, VA to the late Roy Junior Duncan and Bernice MacMillian Duncan. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Johnny Cassell, and her sister-in-law, Mary Lee Dove.

Mrs. Dove was a member of Chatham Heights Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult Choir, director of the Children’s Choir, and taught Children’s Sunday School. She loved her grandchildren dearly; they were the light of her life.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Clifford Dove; daughters, Michelle Robinson (John) and Renee Purvis (Jeremy); sisters, Betty Wilson (Ronnie) and Sharon Cassell; grandchildren, Lauralee, Sophie, and Gabriel “G Man”. Also surviving are her brother-in-law, Robert Dove; and sister-in-law, Janet Smith (Carroll).

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Chatham Heights Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Chatham Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Hatfield officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that any donations be made in Barbara’s honor to Edwards Adult Day Center, 431 Commonwealth Boulevard, Martinsville, VA, 24112.
