Obituaries

Dorothy Beach Schnader Hall, age 84, of Collinsville, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday May 28, 2025, at Stanleytown Health and Rehab. She was born on March 4, 1941, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Albert F. Schnader and Elizabeth Beach Griggs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Douglas “Doug” Randall Hall, and a special niece Kimberly Dawn Hall.

Dorothy was a devoted member of Landmark Baptist Church, where she especially enjoyed helping in the kitchen during Vacation Bible School. She spent many dedicated years working at Bassett Walker before retiring. A gifted cook, Dorothy cherished time with her family and was well-known for preparing Sunday dinners that brought everyone together for food and fellowship. She had a compassionate heart, providing childcare and serving as a caregiver to many throughout the years. Her beloved cat, Julie, was the joy of her life.

She is survived by two sisters, Lillie Schnader Lotts and Shirley Schnader White; special nephew, Danny Steven Hall; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and other family members and friends.

A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 7:00 pm, at the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel, with Dr. J.D. Harmon, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. An Interment will follow on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 11:00 am at Blackberry Baptist Church Cemetery.
